Ink Upon My Cheek
This piece is a tender meditation on love that lingers long after parting. It speaks to the ache of holding on, the silence that follows goodbye, and the quiet strength it takes to let go with grace. Rather than resist the sorrow, the speaker embraces it, carrying love as memory, as prayer, as presence that transcends time. Through fading dreams, unanswered echoes, and the stillness left behind, this poem captures the beauty of peaceful surrender. It is not about forgetting but about learning to live with what remains, softly, faithfully, and without regret.

I wrote, and within me still lingers your goodbye
A burning ache of longing nested deep inside
No pen could ever trace what tears have drawn
A book of yearning inked upon my cheek at dawn
How many dreams have withered since you left
Like water fading from the petals once caressed
How many nights did longing keep me awake
Calling your shadow in silence no echo could break
O star that once lit my darkest sky
Have you vanished from me or have I said goodbye
If fate decrees that parting is love’s end
Then love shall live in me beyond what time can bend
I’ll carry your memory like hidden art
Tucked in the quiet chambers of my aching heart
And if my voice should fail unable to implore
My silent pulse will still love you forevermore
I’ll cradle my sorrow like a treasured token
Wrapped in a wound where no vow is broken
May the nights remember what we used to be
And send your phantom drifting back in sleep to me
And if you were not meant to be mine in this life
Then you’re my whispered prayer since silence, through stillness, through strife
